OVERVIEW
As a graphic design intern at Seattle Met magazine, I contributed to the April 2014 issue by designing “The Explainer,” a visually-driven, infographic-style feature that broke down the story behind a local oil refinery explosion. Designed to merge data with strong narrative clarity, the piece used an illustrated refinery as its central visual, with negative space carved out to house columns of text. A bold black and yellow color scheme reinforced the cautionary tone, while a red, stamp-inspired graphic highlighted a key safety failure. The result was a compelling blend of storytelling and information design that captured the gravity of the incident in a visually arresting format.
